Course correspondence will be labelled Surf Life Saving South Australia.

NT HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This 2-hour course has been designed for those who prefer to complete the CPR theory and assessment in a full face to face training and assessment session with no online components.

The CPR course delivers the essential principals‚ knowledge and skills to maintain breathing and circulation in emergency situations for adults‚ children and infants. Participants will learn vital lifesaving skills and the confidence and knowledge to maintain basic life support in a person who is in cardiac arrest until help arrives.

NT HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation eLearning

This course has been designed for those who prefer to complete ‘self-paced’ CPR theory online (approximately 30-45 minutes)‚ followed by a shorter face to face assessment session (1.5 hours). 

The CPR course delivers the essential principals‚ knowledge and skills to maintain breathing and circulation in emergency situations for adults, children and infants. Participants will learn vital lifesaving skills and the confidence and knowledge to maintain basic life support in a person who is in cardiac arrest until help arrives.

All CPR eLearning modules have been designed to cater for multiple learning styles. You can either read the body of text, watch videos, listen to voice overs or combine these learning styles.

NT HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

This Provide First Aid course has been designed for those who prefer to complete the theory and assessment in a full day face to face training and assessment session with no online components.

The course aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support.

Participants will be able to perform effective CPR techniques and manage a range of emergency situations that include:
 
  • Medical emergencies such as asthma‚ anaphylaxis and heart conditions
  • Trauma such as bleeding, fractures, sprains and strains, and more
 
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a Nationally Accredited course and the certificate is valid for three (3) years from the completion date. (HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR renewal required annually).

This Provide First Aid course has been designed for those who prefer to complete ‘self-paced’ theory online (approximately 4 hours)‚ followed by a shorter face to face training and assessment session (4 hours).

The course aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support.

Participants will be able to perform effective CPR techniques and manage a range of emergency situations that include:
  • Medical emergencies such as asthma, anaphylaxis and heart conditions

NT HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

The aim of the HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy course is  to develop skills and knowledge to manage life-threatening external bleeding‚ the use oxygen, airway management devices and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious victims. 

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to persons who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

NT IRB Crew

The IRB Crew course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively crew and inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

NT Silver Medallion Aquatic Search and Rescue (SMAR)

The aim of the Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to participate in search and rescue operations.

NT Silver Medallion IRB Driver

The IRB Driver (IRBD) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

NT SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard

The SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set course consists of an online theory component and 2 days of face to face training and assessment.

This course has been designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure once completed‚ you have high-level competencies and are “job-ready” to commence your career as a Pool Lifeguard.

You will receive comprehensive training in water rescues, emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and update your annual CPR requirements.

NT SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard Requalification

The SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set course consists of an online theory component and 1 day of face to face training and assessment.

This course has been designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure once completed‚ you have high-level competencies and are “job-ready” to commence your career as a Pool Lifeguard.

You will receive comprehensive training in water rescues, emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and update your annual CPR requirements.

NT SLS MEMBERS ONLY – Surf Rescue Certificate

The aim of this course is to provide participants with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness‚ aquatic rescue operations‚ communication systems and equipment and resuscitation. It is recommended for SLS members who wish to:
• perform in the role of SLS water safety personnel
• take on a lifesaving cadetship and join a lifesaving patrol

NT_PUA20119 Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) Bronze Medallion

The NT_PUA20119 Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course covers all aspects of Lifesaving including rescues‚ the provision of first aid‚ spinal management‚ radio communication and beach management.
This is a core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. It is also a suitable award to equip teachers to supervise students around water.

Surf Life Saving NT recommends that participants complete a proficiency for their Bronze Medallion annually.
