Surf Life Saving Northern Territory operates under an auspice agreement with Surf Lifesaving South Australia RTO (40110).

Course correspondence will be labelled Surf Life Saving South Australia.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques [AID]

ART

The aim of the Advance Resuscitation Techniques (ART) course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and application of oxygen, airway management devices, suction and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation.
 

 

Certificate II Public Safety

Bronze

The Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) (PUA21012) course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course covers all aspects of Lifesaving including rescues, the provision of first aid, spinal management, radio communication and beach management.
This is a core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. It is also a suitable award to equip teachers to supervise students around water.

Surf Life Saving NT recommends that participants complete a proficiency for their Bronze Medallion annually.

 

Community Surf Rescue Certificate

SRC

The Surf Rescue Certificate is a flexible course that is offered by Surf Life Saving Clubs to their junior lifesavers and can be tailored for a school program. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision. ?

This is NOT suitable for Surf Lifesaving SA/NT Members as they need a patrolling specific Surf Rescue Certificate.


 

IRB Crew

IRBC

The IRB Crew course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively crew and inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

 

Perform Basic Water Rescues

BWR

This course describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to perform basic water rescues in small - medium indoor or outdoor aquatic centres.

Pool Lifeguard

PLG

This course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure once completed, you have high-level competencies and are “job-ready” to commence your career as a pool lifeguard.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care, emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain necessary annual CPR requirements.


 

Pool Lifeguard Re-qualification

PLGR

This course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge so you can continue your journey as a pool lifeguard or enhance your professional development.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care, emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain your annual CPR requirements. 

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

BELS

This unit will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life threatening situations. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public who want to be able to manage an emergency first aid situation.

 

Provide CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Provide First Aid In Remote Situations

REMOTE

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation.The unit applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

 

Rescue Water Craft Operator Certificate

RWCOC

Be at least 17 years or older at commencement of training
Be at least 18 years or older at date of assessment
Bronze proficient and hold Certficate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) Hold current SA Boat Licence recorded on surf guard.

 

Silver Medallion in Aquatic Search and Rescue

SMAR

The aim of the Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to participate in search and rescue operations.


 

Silver Medallion IRB Driver

IRBD

The IRB Driver (IRBD) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

 

Surf Rescue Certificate Awareness

SRCNT

The Surf Rescue Certificate is a flexible course that is offered by Surf Life Saving Clubs to their junior lifesavers and can be tailored for a school program. 
The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.
