Administer Oxygen in an emergency situation

Learn how to use Oxygen and suction equipment, while performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with a Defibrillator from the lifesaving expert, Surf Life Saving SA/NT. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, saves lives. Using other equipment such as oxygen, and suction enhances delivery and provides people with this equipment greater skills and knowledge to promote recovery for any casualty no matter their condition.

The goal is to protect the brain from lack of oxygen by taking over the circulatory duties of the heart until paramedics arrive. This course including Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Administer oxygen in an emergency is aimed for staff at aquatic locations and other environments that may have oxygen equipment such as gyms.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques [AID]

The aim of the Advance Resuscitation Techniques (ART) course is to provide participants with the skills, knowledge and application of oxygen, airway management devices, suction and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation.

Bronze Medallion

The Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) (PUA20119) course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course covers all aspects of Lifesaving including rescues‚ the provision of first aid, spinal management, radio communication and beach management.
This is a core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. It is also a suitable award to equip teachers to supervise students around water.

Surf Life Saving SA/NT recommends that participants complete a proficiency for their Bronze Medallion annually.

Community Lifesaving Bronze Medallion

The Lifesaving Pool Award aims to teach emergency rescue techniques‚ swimming and survival skills‚ basic spinal management techniques and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Community Surf Rescue Certificate

The Community Surf Rescue Certificate is a flexible course that is offered by Surf Life Saving SA to members of the Community. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic surf awareness and rescue skills. ​

This is NOT suitable for Surf Lifesaving SA/NT Members as they need a patrolling specific Surf Rescue Certificate.

Community Surf Rescue Certificate Update

The Community Surf Rescue Certificate Update is a flexible course that is offered by Surf Life Saving SA to members of the Community. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic surf awareness and rescue skills. ​

This is NOT suitable for Surf Lifesaving SA/NT Members as they need a patrolling specific Surf Rescue Certificate.

IRB Crew

The IRB Crew course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively crew and inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

JRB Crew

The aim of the JRB crew course is to give participants the skill and knowledge to crew on SLSSA's Jet Rescue Boat

Lifesaving Pool Bronze Medallion – (This is equivalent to RLSA Bronze Medallion)

Live LV Panel

This unit covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Pool Lifeguard Course

The Pool Lifeguard course consists of an online theory component and 2 days of face to face training and assessment.

This course has been designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure once completed‚ you have high-level competencies and are “job-ready” to commence your career as a Pool Lifeguard.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care‚ emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain necessary annual CPR requirements.

Pool Lifeguard Holiday Program

Run over three days the Pool Lifeguard Holiday Program is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure once completed, you have high-level competencies and are “job-ready” to commence your career as a Pool Lifeguard.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care, emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain necessary annual CPR requirements.

Pool Lifeguard Re-qualification Course

This 'assessment only' Pool Lifeguard Re-qualification course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge so you can continue your journey as a Pool Lifeguard or enhance your professional development.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care‚ emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain your annual CPR requirements. 

Pool Lifeguard Re-qualification with CPR eLearning

The Pool Lifeguard Re-qualification course with an online CPR theory component is designed to be completed every twelve months so you can continue employment.

The course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge so you can continue your journey as a pool lifeguard or enhance your professional development.

You will receive comprehensive training in aquatic emergency care‚ emergency management, oxygen resuscitation, aquatic facility supervision and maintain your annual CPR requirements.

Pool Operators Course Accredited

This course provides candidates with the skills and knowledge to safely contribute to the water treatment and plant operations of a pool or aquatic facility.  This course will focus on conducting pool water tests‚ record keeping, minor maintenance of plant / equipment, systems and procedures for the maintenance of quality pool water in an aquatic recreation facility.

Pool Operators Course Non-accredited

The Provide an emergency first aid response in an educational and care setting course is specifically aimed at developing the knowledge and skills of educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to manage and respond to first aid emergencies with children. It covers child-specific first aid management in a range of illnesses and injuries, including asthma, anaphylaxis, and resuscitation.

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with eLearning

Learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from the lifesaving expert, Surf Life Saving SA/NT. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, saves lives. It is a simple procedure that uses chest compressions and rescue ventilation to keep oxygen flowing through the body of someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest. The goal is to protect the brain from lack of oxygen by taking over the circulatory duties of the heart until paramedics arrive. 

This course provides participants with the opportunity to complete ‘self-paced’ CPR theory online, followed by a short face to face assessment session. 

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR is a Nationally Accredited course.

Provide First Aid In Remote Situations

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation. The unit applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

Provide First Aid with eLearning

Learn First Aid with the lifesaving experts. Surf Life Saving SA/NT offer a flexible range of training options. Our eLearning courses can save you time and money. Online theory is self-paced and can be completed at a time that suits your organisation or participant.  Once theory is completed participants attend a short face to face practical & assessment session. All courses are nationally accredited. First Aid is an important skill and can help you save a life.

Radio Operator Certificate

Course Aim
The purpose of this course is to help the participant develop skills and knowledge to effectively operate communications systems and equipment in their local lifesaving environment. The award is designed for members who are either working towards obtaining their Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) or members who wish to contribute to radio operations in their local surf lifesaving clubs without completing the full qualification.

Entry Requirements
• Candidates must be at least 13 years of age and a financial member of their surf lifesaving club on the date of final assessment.

You will also need an everyday standard of language‚ literacy and numeracy skills to be able to:
• follow written, verbal and visual instructions
• read and interpret a range of signs and symbols
• read and interpret written information
• make basic mathematical calculations to carry out everyday activities
• keep accurate written records.

Certification
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the SLSA Radio Operators Certificate.
You will also receive the following nationally recognised units of competency:
• PUAOPE013 Operate communications systems and equipment

Rescue Water Craft Operator Certificate

The purpose of this course is to help you develop skills and knowledge to safely and effectively drive a Rescue Water Craft (RWC)

Resuscitation [AID]

Minimum 10 years of age at time of assessment.

Silver Medallion in Aquatic Search and Rescue

The aim of the Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to participate in search and rescue operations.

Silver Medallion IRB Driver

The IRB Driver (IRBD) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

Surf Rescue Certificate

The aim of this course is to provide participants with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, communication systems and equipment and resuscitation. It is recommended for SLS members who wish to:
• perform in the role of SLS water safety personnel
• take on a lifesaving cadetship and join a lifesaving patrol
