The Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) (PUA20119) course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course covers all aspects of Lifesaving including rescues‚ the provision of first aid, spinal management, radio communication and beach management.
This is a core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. It is also a suitable award to equip teachers to supervise students around water.

Surf Life Saving NT recommends that participants complete a proficiency for their Bronze Medallion annually.

 

Introduction:

Target Audience:

Course candidates should be a minimum 14 years old to commence training.
Course candidates should be a minimum 15 years old at date of final assessment.

Be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes or less (goggles and mask permitted)‚ in a swimming pool of at least 25m in length or over a measured open-water course. Nowhere states what swim stroke, just as long as they are continuously swimming.

Learning Methods:

Assessment is through demonstration‚ presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
