The Surf Rescue Certificate is a flexible course that is offered by Surf Life Saving Clubs to their junior lifesavers and can be tailored for a school program. 
The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This course is also the minimum water safety qualification for Junior Activity supervision.

 

Introduction:

Candidates will be taught and assessed on performing rescues, identifying dangers, resuscitation, basic first aid and supervision skills. There will also be a 100m Run, 100m Swim, 100m Run which must be performed in less than 5 minutes and a theory workbook to be completed. This certificate is recognised by the Department of Education as a minimum requirement to supervise children around open water aquatic activities.

Target Audience:

Prerequisites:
  • Be at least 13 years of age on the date of final assessment
