The aim of the Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) course is to provide participants with the knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations.

 

Introduction:

Target Audience:

At least 14 years to commence training.
At least 15 years at date of final assessment.

Be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes or less (goggles and mask permitted), in a swimming pool of at least 25m in length or over a measured open-water course. Nowhere states what swim stroke, just as long as they are continuously swimming.

Learning Methods:

Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
